Emotional Labor Suit
A performance in which the artist considers: hair styling as connection to ancestors; hair braiding as a physically and emotionally laborious; the practicing of culture and identity; parallels in the curly sheep fur and black hair textures; performance of a very intimate process on an inanimate object for a body that isn’t present; performing this process on a garment— something that allows for the transferable appropriation of the object and process onto a body.
